We deliver the pool…. You deliver the baby!

What is a Community Pool Scheme?

Our CPS is designed to give every woman in the participating Trust’s Area access to a robust, insulated, padded pool for a Home Birth. Most importantly, the CPS offers women the chance to do this at a considerably lower cost than hiring a pool privately.

What are the advantages of a CPS for the NHS Trust?

Because we handle all the bookings, delivery, dispatch and maintenance of the pools, we free you up to do what you do best – you can get on with delivering the babies and we will get on with delivering the pools!

We have public liability insurance which means that you can refer women to the scheme safe in the knowledge that we are covered should anything go wrong with the pool (it never has by the way!)

Our sanitised pool liners mean that infection control is NOT an issue.

Our pools are the best on the market – they were specifically designed and manufactured to make sure that mums have a stable, safe and comfortable environment in which to birth – there is no risk that when you lean on the side of our pool it will give way under your weight! No leaks, no puncture, no chance of tipping.

How a Community Pool Scheme Works

The local NHS Trust lease a pool - which is stored at Aquabirths Head Office in Bradford - at a cost of £120 per hire. There is no minimum lease agreement – we work with the Trust to work to whatever budget they have for provision of pools to their Mums to be. If the scheme gives just one woman in each area the chance to have the birth she wants at a more affordable price, then we are happy to run the scheme. Basically, you set a budget and we agree with you how many pools we will dispatch per year within that budget.

What will it cost our Mums to be?

Regardless of the package, the expectant Mum pays just £50 to cover the cost of the liner. Delivery costs can be negated entirely if Mums collect the pool for our offices. Alternatively, if delivery needs to be paid, this is charged at cost and can be finances through the NHS budget OR by the Mother, dependant on whichever option the Trust chooses.

How to we get one?

We have pools in stock now and ready to go. We would love to have you trial your own CPS. If you can apportion a small budget to trail the scheme to just a few Mums over the next few months, we would love to help you do that. All we need is the nod from you and a budget and we’ll so the rest. We will provide you with literature to distribute to your Mums-to-be and can even come out and speak to your midwifery team about the scheme. Our aim would be to have a CPS in every Trust as we know that the demand is there. Our Bradford service is fully booked several months in advance.
